During the World Championships, the IPC Table
Tennis Sports Assembly was held. Among the
main decisions taken were:
- to continue investigating a closer working relationship with our able-bodied counterpart, the International Table Tennis Federation,
- to accept amendments proposed to the classification system for standing players
- to allocate more ranking points for doubles matches to encourage this exciting form of the game
- to add rules about dress, the use of belts and corsets, to clarify the rules for players touching, moving and/or using the table and additions to the wheelchair structure
- to encourage tournaments for juniors and women specifically
The International Paralympic Table Tennis Committee
would like to thank the Chinese Taipei Paralympic
Committee for hosting such a successful event as well
as the referees, umpires, classifiers and, in particular,
the volunteers for making the IPC Table Tennis Family
feel so welcome in Chinese Taipei.
