Africa Will Gather for Inclusive Games

From October 6 to 18 2003, the 8th All Africa Games will take place in Abuja, Nigeria.The All Africa Games are inclusive, multi-sport games for all African countries held every four years.A total of 6,000 athletes are expected from 53 countries, both numbers being the highest ever.    Logo of 8th All Africa Games

Elite athletes with a disability will be competing in three sports: Athletics, Powerlifting and Table Tennis.The minimum criteria for an event to be held is that at least five athletes from five nations are entered.An All Africa Games Village will be constructed for the competitors and their accompanying officials.A total of 1,500 media representatives are expected to cover the event worldwide.

The entry deadline is January 31 2003. All entry forms are to be sent to the All Africa Games Organising Committee (COJA). The participation fee is US$30 per person per day. COJA wishes to involve about 10,000 Nigerians and foreigners as volunteers for the Abuja 2003 Games. The volunteers will receive training in various training centres across the country.
