Background
The aims and objectives of IPC education activities are guided by the Education Committee and based on the following:
IPC Mission Statement
“To support
and encourage educational, cultural, research and scientific activities that
contribute to the development and promotion of the Paralympic Movement.”
IPC Strategic Plan – Global Recognition
“To
develop and realize a global education initiative directed to build the
awareness and understanding of the Paralympic values among youth and
schoolchildren.”
Paralympic Education
“The premise behind Paralympic
Education is to integrate Paralympic ideals in a system of formal education to
serve as an effective pedagogical method to create awareness and understanding
towards persons with a disability.“
Aim
To educate youth and professionals about the ideals and values of the Paralympic Movement, create understanding and develop a positive attitude towards persons with a disability.
Core Objectives
1. To create high-quality
Paralympic Education resources for global implementation.2. To encourage Paralympic Education Programmes to be implemented worldwide.
3. To provide trainings for the implementation of Paralympic Education activities.
4. To promote scholarly research activities and studies about the Paralympic Education Programmes.
Target Groups
1. Youth ages
6-192. Professionals, i.e. school teachers, college/university students
