Three Weeks to International Paralympic Day 2007
Bonn, Germany - After the success of two
International Paralympic Days (IPD) held in 2003 and 2005 in Bonn, Germany, the
International Paralympic Committee (IPC) is taking this exciting event to the
next level.
On 23 August, IPD 2007 will offer a
condensed version of the Paralympic Summer Games on the Pariser Platz in
front of the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin. An exciting menu of sports
have been chosen, including Wheelchair Basketball, Sitting Volleyball,
Football 5-a-side, Table Tennis and Long Jump, as well as Biathlon
.
Athletes from all over the world will come to perform in Berlin, including the Chinese Women’s Wheelchair Basketball National Team and long jumpers Casey Tibbs (USA), Urs Kolly (Switzerland), Roberto La Barbera (Italy), Heinrich Popow (Germany), Thomas Ulbricht (Germany) and Xavier LeDraoullec (France).
There will be the chance to experience
Paralympic Sport live and meet the athletes as well as to see how sport unites
people and what opportunities exist for persons with a disability.

Organized and hosted by the IPC, the global governing body of
the Paralympic Movement, the IPD 2007 will be supported by IPC’s World Wide
