Beijing 2008 Classification Master List
Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games Classification Master List
The Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games Classification Master
List (the List) is a list of athletes with an international sport class and
Paralympic sport class status(*) for all Paralympic sports on the Beijing 2008
Paralympic Games Programme. One List is created per IPSF (International
Paralympic Sports Federation). The List includes the athletes known and/or
believed to qualify for the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games under the provisions
of the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games Qualification Guide.
The List is designed to allow
National Federations (NFs) and National Paralympic Committees (NPCs) to verify
the data of their athletes in advance of the BOCOG Accreditation Application
deadline of 2 May 2008 and the Final Entry deadline of 7 July 2008.
The IPC brought the Lists
to the attention of its Membership and extends an invitation to all
parties involved to check the accuracy of the athlete data on the Lists. The
IPSF National Members were required to verify the data directly with the respective
IPSF following the appropriate IPSF instructions before 30 April 2008 .
On 30 April 2008, the Lists were taken off the websites and will be matched with the Accreditation information that IPC will receive from BOCOG.
The IPC will publish the updated Lists for all sports on the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games Programme on the IPC Website on 23 May 2008. From that date onwards, only NPCs will be able to request Athlete Data Verification, using the appropriate form that will be made available at that time by the IPC. Deadline for NPCs to return Athlete Verification Forms to IPC, using the IPC Athlete Classification Verification Form will be 30 June 2008.
Details on the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games Classification Programme can be found in the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games Classification Guide published by BOCOG.
Parallel to the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games Classification Programme, every IPSF has its process of ongoing athlete evaluation through the respective IPSF classification rules and regulations. Every IPSF has the responsibility to update the List during this period following the outcome of athlete evaluations at competitions and resolution of classification protests.
We hereby encourage the NFs and NPCs to take this opportunity given by the IPSF:
- to have as much athletes as possible classified appropriately before the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games to reduce the number of athletes required to undergo classification evaluation upon arrival in Beijing.
- to check the accuracy of athlete data on the Classification Master Lists through the verification process as explained above.
(*) In case the Paralympic Sport Class Status is different from the sport class status commonly used by the IPSF, the IPSF has been invited to list convertion criteria on the IPSF-website along with the List.
