Athletics - Women's 100m - T52 Final - London 2012 Paralympic Games

GOLD VERVOORT Marieke BEL - Belgium SILVER STILWELL Michelle CAN - Canada BRONZE MORGAN Kerry USA - United States of America There was a big upset in another 100m race as wheelchair racer Marieke VERVOORT (BEL) beat Beijing 2008 gold medallist and world record holder Michelle STILWELL (CAN) in the women's T52 event. VERVOORT said "Amazing, really amazing. I didn't expect this, wow, a 100 metres so fast. Everybody told me that I had a very quick start and then I saw Michelle STILWELL (CAN) on my right coming back and I said 'I'm not going to let that happen'. She took me in the 200 metres, I kept pushing, pushing and I was thinking 'Where is the finish line'. Then I saw it and I was the first one, and I yelled and yelled from happiness."
