Can you imagine going down a slope without sight at more than 100km/h? Take a look at Jon Santacana, a Paralympic athlete who competes in para-alpine skiing in the visual impairment category.

The 1 gold medal he won at Vancouver 2010 isn't enough for him. Sport is his great passion and he tells us how it feels going down a slope at 100km/h without sight.

Jon Santacana is a visually impaired skier who, with guide Miguel Galindo, is one of the best performers in the men's field. A three-time Paralympian, Santacana won a gold medal in giant slalom at the Salt Lake 2002 Winter Paralympic Games and a gold medal in the downhill at the Vancouver 2010 Paralympic Winter Games. At Vancouver he also won two silver medals and at Salt Lake he earned two bronze medals.

The 32-year-old from San Sebastian was named IPC Athlete of the Month for January 2011 because of his performances at the 2011 world championships in Sestriere, Italy, where he won three gold and two silver medals. He enjoyed further success at the 2013 IPC Alpine Skiing World Championships in La Molina, Spain, where he won three gold medals in the downhill, giant slalom and super-G events. A keen surfer and mountain biker away from skiing, on the slopes, Santacana is a consistent favourite for success.
