When and where did you begin this sport?
He took up the sport in 1985 in Sarykol, Kazakhstan, and began competing internationally in Para skiing in 2013.
Why this sport?
He initially took part in wrestling but was invited to switch to cross-country skiing by coach Ivan Shishkin. After his injury he was encouraged to return to the sport by his former [able-bodied] cross-country skiing coach Sergey Revutsky.
