He began swimming in 2001 in Kahramanmaras, Turkey.
Why this sport?
He first tried swimming as part of his rehabilitation. He was then inspired to take up the sport after watching the 2000 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Sydney. He also saw swimming as an opportunity to become more sociable.
