Sport Specific Information

She began skiing at age six at the Children's Hospital Handicapped Sports Program in Denver, Colorado.

Mountain and road cycling, playing golf, spending time with her family, especially her sisters and niece. (sportainability.ning.com, 14 Mar 2012)
Injuries
In 2008 she underwent hip surgery and had to have screws embedded in her pelvis. This may have contributed to a mysterious paralysis she experienced when in 2009 she sat down to dinner only to find that she could not get back up or move her legs. Doctors could not identify the source of the paralysis which eventually subsided. She decided to have the screws in her pelvis removed and the mysterious paralysis has not returned. After the 2002 Paralympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City she took time out from skiing to undergo surgery. (sportainability.ning.com, 14 Mar 2012)
