He began the sport in January 2010. "I started running just to be in better shape, and I wanted to break the 40-minute mark on the 10K run."

RECOGNITION
In 2012 Canadian athlete Dany Racine was named Victoriaville [Canada] Male Athlete of the Year, but chose to give the award to Ouellet. "He deserves the award more than me. We should have considered performance relative to fitness, and what he did was very impressive. He is the athlete of the year," Racine said. (lanouvelle.net, 09 May 2012)
