From 12-13 May 2017, Arizona Disabled Sports hosts the 2017 World Para Athletics Grand Prix Desert Challenge Games.

The event is open to American and international male and female athletes with a physical or visual, or intellectual impairment.

Located just 32km east of Phoenix, Mesa is home to nearly 500,000 people and is nearby Arizona State University, home to several top collegiate sports teams.
