Freestyle events: combi, duo, singles

a)    One athlete or one couple on the dance floor to present their programme with any music of their choice.
b)    It is allowed to use one piece of music, different types of music or mixed music.
c)    Music should meet a specific length:
1.    The duration of the free dance presentation for singles limits to 1:30 min to 2 min
2.    The duration of the free dance presentation for combi limits to 2:30 min to 3 min.
3.    The duration of the free dance presentation for duos limits to 2:00 min to 2:30 min.
d)    Athletes must submit their music in advance to the LOC in mp3 format with credits to the artists.

Competition Duration

The competition duration is 3 days plus 1 additional day for International Classification prior to the start of the competition.

International Classification

International Classification will be conducted on 28.11.2019. Detailed classification schedule will follow after the revision of the final entries by World Para Dance Sport Office. All athletes who have to be classified must arrive in time prior to the classification process.
They must be in possession of the Para Dance Sport Medical Diagnostic Form (available on the WPDS website https://www.paralympic.org/dance-sport on the Downloads and Forms section), the wheelchair used during competition and straps, if any.

Insurance

 
Each National Federation and/or National Paralympic Committee is responsible for the appropriate insurance covering accidents, health, property and liability of their team.  

Eligibility

Dance couples must consist of a male and a female partner. All wheelchair users must fulfil minimum disability criteria. Couples entries must be submitted by their National Paralympic Committees or authorized Federation to the NPC.

Judging System and Results

The “old” judging system will be used for the conventional events.

Only athletes who have been licensed by WPDS (including partners) will be eligible for receiving points for the World Rankings.

Ranking

The minimum number of participating countries per event must be 3.
In case of not reaching the minimum quota of 3 countries in the event, there are two options:
a) The event is cancelled with no competition at all or
b) The couple/athlete can compete in a higher class.

No medals will be rewarded for the original event. However, in case the athletes reach the podium in the higher class, medals shall be normally awarded. The placement points will be carried to their specific ranking class.

Entries and Registration Process

All athletes must be entered by their respective NPCs or authorised organizations via the SDMS.
WPDS will check if athletes entered in the Freestyle events fulfill the minimum requirements.
For World Para Dance Sport Championships, each country can nominate a maximum number of 3 couples/ athletes per class per event. For the freestyle events there is a minimum number of points required.
For wild card request, please contact the WPDS office.
WPDS office must be informed about every late entry. All respective information must be reviewed on a ‘case by case’ basis and the entry may be accepted or rejected by the WPDS office.
Replacements: WPDS office must be informed about every replacement. Replacements of athletes may be accepted due to injury or medical reasons.
All medical information regarding the athlete who is to be replaced must be sent to WPDS office by the respective NPC for further consideration regarding its acceptance or rejection.

Rules and Regulations

The competition is liable to the World Para Dance Sport Rules and Regulations and World Para Dance Sport Classification Rules and Regulations.

Accommodation

Official hotels: Mercure Bonn Hardtberghalle and Collegium Leoninum
Accommodation to be booked with the IPC Protocol Team.

For entries after 21.08.2019, the Organising Committee is not responsible for providing transport or accommodation.

Transport

Transport from airport to the official hotels will be organised by the LOC for accredited persons only. Also, local transport by shuttle service between the official hotels and competition venue will be available for accredited delegates.
Preferred airport: Cologne-Bonn (CGN) and Frankfurt International (FRA)
Estimated time between the airports and Bonn:
Cologne-Bonn (CGN) – City of Bonn:         20 minutes
Frankfurt International (FRA) – City of Bonn:     at least 2 hours
Transport will be offered from the airports to the hotel on 27 and 28 November and from the hotel to the airports on 2 December.
Transport will be offered from the hotel to the venue and from the venue back to the hotel.
Please send the travel form by 30 August 2019.

Entries must be done via SDMS (Sport Data Management System).

Results

Only athletes who have been licensed by WPDS (including partners) qualified for taking part in the World Championships.

Music

 

Music for Freestyle events must be submitted via email to the LOC in mp3 format until 01.11.19. Team leaders are advised to bring a copy by USB Stick. The title of the email must contain the country and the athletes’ name.
