The International Paralympic Committee invites interested media representatives to apply for accreditation for the 2013 IPC General Assembly taking place from 23-24 November in Athens, Greece.

The General Assembly is the supreme authority of the IPC which meets every two years. It last met in December 2011 in Beijing, China, and the last elections took place in 2009 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

On Sunday 24 November elections for the IPC Governing Board will also take place in a closed session. Up for election will be the positions of IPC President, Vice President and 10 Members at Large. The winners will be announced during the press conference following the elections at around 18:00 local time.

Media will be allowed to attend certain sessions of the General Assemlby including:

19:00 Paralympic Awards Gala (mixed zone set up)

More than 300 attendees are expected at the event and all National Paralympic Committees, International Federations, Regional Organisations, International Organisations of Sport for the Disabled and friends will be invited to attend.

The Paralympic Sport and Media Awards, in conjunction with Allianz, will also take place in Athens, coinciding with the IPC General Assembly. This year’s awards will recognise and honour the performances of athletes, teams, officials and the media from the London 2012 Paralympic Games.

Interested media can apply for accreditation by filling in the media registration form and submitting it to Eva Werthmann, IPC Media Operations Manager, eva.werthmann@paralympic.org, by 30 October the latest.
