KUALA LUMPUR 2013 - Info for Teams

Athlete eligibility

All athletes participating in the 2013 IPC Powerlifting Open Asian Championships must be:

• from the Asian region and international for the open division

• licensed by IPC Powerlifting for the season 2013 and

• only for this occasion will not be MQS

Maximum number of athlete entries per event

The maximum number of athlete entries per event per NPC will be in accordance with the IPC Powerlifting Rules and Regulations (1.3 and 4.1 in particular).

Competition rules

The competition rules shall be in accordance with the IPC Powerlifting Rulebook 2013 - 2016.

Competition fee

The competition fee for the 2013 IPC Powerlifting Open Asian Championships, Kuala Lumpur is 650 Euro for each NPC delegation member (athletes and NPC Teams Officials) and include the following services:

The competition fee covers all the Championships services including accommodation, meals and local transportation (to/from airport, official Championships hotels to venues) from the 1 – 8 November 2013.

The competition fee is to be paid to LOC by 6 September 2013.

The LOC will make accommodation arrangements for all invited NPC delegations entering the competition.

Any members of the NPC’S requiring a room for single occupancy during the event will be charged an extra 45 Euro per day.

In case of early arrival or late departure the extra cost (per night/per person) is 90 Euro per day for a twin room. Meals are on your own for those extra days stay. NPC’S are requested to complete the team division room form to plan their accommodation arrangements. The LOC will do its best to accommodate each NPC preferred accommodation request. All accommodation arrangements are to be made through the LOC Secretariat.

International classification

International classification will take place on the 1-2 November 2013 at the official hotel. The classification schedule will be announced after the deadline of the final entries.

Doping control

Doping control will be conducted under the IPC Anti-doping Code.

Visa arrangements and immigration

For those delegation members who require visa to enter Malaysia, you are to contact the nearest Malaysian Embassy in your country. All NPC’s are required to complete the visa request form and send it to the LOC. The LOC will provide you with a formal invitation letter together with the list of your delegation to your NPC and the Malaysian Embassy in your country.

Please be reminded that it is important that your NPC arrange all relevant visas well in advance with the respective deadlines.

Yellow Fever

A Yellow Fever vaccination certificate is required for all visitors going to/through Yellow Fever Endemic areas/countries and visitors coming from/through Yellow Fever Endemic areas/countries. The vaccination certificate is only valid if the vaccine is approved by WHO and administered at an approved Yellow Fever Vaccinating Centre.

In accordance with article 68 of the International Health Regulations of the WHO, travellers without a valid Yellow Fever vaccination certificate shall be quarantined upon arrival in Malaysia.

Transportation

Air travel

All teams are responsible for their air travel to Kuala Lumpur. The LOC will provide local transportation for registered NPC

delegations to and from Kuala Lumpur International Airport to the hotel for delegations arriving by plane.

Delegations are kindly requested to book flights with final destination Kuala Lumpur.

Ground transportation during the competition

The LOC will provide transportation to and from the designated hotel to the competition and training venue.

Accreditation

Athletes and NPC team officials must return the accreditation form with two passport photo’s (4.5cm x 3.5cm) for their accreditation card.

Insurance

Each NPC must ensure that all members of their delegation are appropriately insured, including but not limited to coverage for travel, liability and accidents.

Medals

Two sets of medals - Asian Open & Asian Closed - men and women (junior & senior) will be awarded accordingly. The medal awards will be in accordance to the IPC Rule Book 2013 – 2016 item 9.

Results

This is an IPC approved competition. All results will be considered for the MQS towards the 2014 IPC Powerlifting World Championships which will be held tentatively in April 2014 in Dubai. (Please refer to IPC Powerlifting website for the IPC powerlifting qualification pathway 2013-2016).
