Russia have automatically qualifed for the Sochi 2014 Paralympics as the host nation.

Outlook

Russia surprised everyone last November, outscoring their opponents 20-2 en route to winning gold at the 2012 IPC Ice Sledge Hockey World Championships B-Pool in Novi Sad, Serbia.

Take into account that was their first World Championship event and was just two years removed from starting up their programme, and it’s easy to say the team’s potential is limitless.

The Russians won’t have one star in Goyang, they’ll have several, including top goal scorers Dmitry Lisov and Engeny Petrov. Expect the Russians to be a wild-card team at the World Championships, having already qualified for Sochi 2014 as the host nation.
