As hosts Sweden will have the home advantage during the European Championships, but they will still need to prove themselves on the ice against several stronger teams.

In 2015, they were promoted to A-Pool for 2016 after finishing among the top two at the 2015 World Championships B-Pool.

When they are in the mood – and especially when playing on home ice – they have a tendency to defy expectations, so keep a close eye on them.

Key players

Between defenseman Niklas Ingvarsson and forward Per Kasperi, Sweden are rarely lacking for goals. Expect to see both names on the scoresheet early on.
