Aichi-Nagoya 2026 celebrates 100 days to go until Asian Para Games

The Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Organising Committee held a ceremony earlier this week to mark 100 days to go until the Asian Para Games, showcasing the excitement building in Japan as it prepares to welcome the region’s top Para athletes.
The ceremony united the region’s Para sport community ahead of the event, which takes place from 18-24 October and is set to feature athletes from 45 National Paralympic Committee in Asia.
An Asian Paralympic Committee (APC) delegation attended the ceremony alongside representatives from AINAGOC, Aichi Prefecture, the City of Nagoya and key stakeholders.
“Imagine One Heart”
The medals, as well as the designs of the torch and torch relay uniform, were unveiled during the event. Inspired by the Asian Para Games slogan, "Imagine One Heart," the medal symbolises people from diverse cultures coming together through sport, reflecting the dedication and perseverance of athletes on their journey to the podium.
The torch relay uniform also embodies the spirit of "Imagine One Heart," representing unity, connection and hope as athletes, volunteers, staff and spectators come together to celebrate the Games.
Meanwhile, medallists will receive a commemorative gift featuring the mascot, Uzumin, as a gold, silver or bronze medallist.
100 days to go
Addressing the audience, APC President Majid Rashed highlighted the significance of the milestone and the lasting impact the Games will have on the region.
"We are now just 100 days away from Asia's biggest Para sport event. The countdown is well and truly underway, and it is almost time for the show to begin."
Rashed noted that the Games will be the first major multi-sport event held in Japan since the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games and emphasised the legacy they will leave for future generations.
“The true legacy of the Games will not simply be measured in medals or records. It will be reflected in the stronger, more inclusive society they help create — one where people with and without disabilities are respected equally, celebrated for their unique talents, and given every opportunity to succeed.
“That is the legacy we hope Aichi-Nagoya 2026 will leave, not only for Japan but for all of Asia.”
APC Chief Executive Officer Tarek Souei, who also attended the celebrations, praised the progress made by the Organising Committee.
“The Asian Para Games are much more than competition. They are a celebration of courage, resilience and inclusion, which is made possible by the tireless efforts of staff, volunteers, partners and the entire community of Aichi Prefecture and the City of Nagoya.
“Over the next 100 days, the APC will continue to stand shoulder to shoulder with AINAGOC and all our partners as we fine-tune every detail and work together to deliver the most accessible, sustainable and athlete-centred Games in our history."
