Alpine Worlds 2019: Ones to Watch

World Para Alpine Skiing has announced its Ones to Watch for the 2019 World Championships set to take place between 21 January and 1 February.

Kranjska Gora, Slovenia, will stage the technical events, while Sella Nevea, Italy, will host the speed competitions.

These 13 alpine skiers are individuals who have the potential to make headlines at the sport’s biggest competition outside the Paralympic Winter Games, and full biographies are now available on the World Para Alpine Skiing website.

Adam Hall (New Zealand)

Returned to the top of the Winter Paralympic podium at PyeongChang 2018 by winning gold in the slalom and bronze in the super-combined.

Andrew Kurka (USA)

Won his maiden Winter Paralympic title in PyeongChang after emerging triumphant in the downhill.

Anna Schaffelhuber (Germany)

Looks to defend her three world titles after winning double gold in PyeongChang.

Anna-Lena Forster (Germany)

Seeks to claim her first world title after securing golds in the slalom and super-combined at PyeongChang 2018.

Giacomo Bertagnolli (Italy)

The newly-crowned double Paralympic champion hopes to win a second world title after topping the podium in the super-combined on home soil in Tarvisio.

Henrieta Farkasova (Slovakia)

Strong candidate to perform a clean sweep of all events at the 2019 Worlds after winning an unprecedented five Paralympic golds in 2018.

Jakub Krako (Slovakia)

Claimed gold in the super-G at PyeongChang 2018 and is now confident of winning a world title after eight years.

Jeroen Kampschreur (Netherlands)

Paralympic super-combined champion will be aiming to defend his three golds from Tarvisio 2017.

Jesper Pedersen (Norway)

Gained national recognition after taking a debut gold in giant slalom at the 2018 Winter Paralympics.

Marie Bochet (France)

After taking quadruple gold at PyeongChang 2018, she aims to go one better and repeat her performance from the 2015 World Championships, when she won all five events.

Menna Fitzpatrick (Great Britain)

Became her country’s most decorated Winter Paralympian following a fabulous performance in PyeongChang where she picked up a gold, two silvers and a bronze.

Mollie Jepsen (Canada)

Is a breakout star at age 18; she medalled at four of her five events at PyeongChang 2018 and was named Canadian Female Athlete of the Year.

Theo Gmur (Switzerland)

Enjoyed a brilliant 2017/18 season by winning the World Cup crystal globe and taking three golds at the Games.
