Austria presented the uniforms for the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games in Vienna, Austria, whilst Great Britain unveiled the formal wear the Para athletes and support staff will wear on official ParalympicsGB business.

Top athletes including Paralympic table tennis medallist Doris Mader, London 2012 cycling champion Wolfgang Schattauer and six-time canoe world champion Markus Swoboda attended the ceremony where the Austrian outfits were launched.

The uniform includes 60 different items in red-white-red with training and competition outfits designed by Erima. Modehaus Adelsberger provided the elegant leather trousers, whilst Salomon produced the shoes.

“Having leather trousers was a very original idea and super cool. I will wear them proudly,” said Schattauer.

Austrian Paralympic Committee Secretary General Petra Huber added: “Our team has a top outfit, everyone is satisfied and positive. We are more than confident.

“The outfit presentation event is a milestone for us on the road to Rio. Joyful anticipation and expectations are equally high.”

Global fashion destination ASOS has partnered with the British Paralympic Association (BPA) to design formal and ceremony wear for ParalympicsGB.

Their designs will be worn by over 250 selected athletes, plus support staff, on official ParalympicsGB business. This includes high profile formal team appearances and the Rio 2016 Opening and Closing Ceremonies.

"This is a really exciting moment as we get to meet athletes from all the different sports and come together as teammates for the first time,” said Para triathlete Lauren Steadman.

“It is the one time we swap our training kit for formal wear before the Games, and our bespoke ASOS outfits help make us look and feel even more like a world class team.”

John Mooney, ASOS Creative Director Menswear & Production said: “We are proud to be the formal wear supplier for the ParalympicsGB Team and enjoyed meeting the athletes representing our country. We enjoyed designing clothes that will make them look and feel their best at the Games.”
