Blind football heads to Switzerland

Switzerland are one of the emerging blind football nations to benefit from UEFA's investment

Blind football training sessions have been held in Delemont, Switzerland, as it becomes the latest country to join the sport’s international family.

This initiative was led by the International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA), in partnership with L’ASAP (Association Sportive pour les Aveugles et malvoyants dans la perspective des jeux Paralympiques) and IBSA-member organisation Plusport, as part of the IBSA Blind Football Development Project Europe, made possible thanks to financial support from UEFA.

All parties involved discussed a strategy and roadmap for future growth and development as part of this initiative, which aimed to help expand the sport nationally, recruit more players and set up a Swiss national blind football team. German coach Wolf Schmidt conducted the training sessions.

L'ASAP's blind football team has already been training for around a year now and is scheduled to play friendly tournaments in France and Belgium over the next few weeks under the name Plusport L'ASAP.
