The Chilean Ministry of Sports has announced it will invest over EUR 1,500,000 to improve the sporting infrastructure for Para athletes in the country.

At an event in Santiago, Minister of Sports Pablo Squella confirmed that money will be invested in constructing a weights room, new football 5 and football 7 fields, and the renovation of three tennis courts next to the Estadio Nacional (National Stadium).

“We are happy to begin with this project which will benefit the National Paralympic Committee and Paralympic athletes,” said Squella. “It is a satisfaction to know they will have the best infrastructure to train for the different competitions.”

Paralympic Committee of Chile President Ricardo Elizalde added: “This is a terrific achievement. We are very grateful to the Ministry of Sports and the Instituto Nacional del Deporte (National Institute of Sports). This will help us get ready in the best possible way ahead of the Lima 2019 Parapan American Games.”
