Who will you be watching out for at next month’s World Para Athletics Championships in London, Great Britain?

As we count down the days until the start of London 2017, it’s time to take a closer look at each of our ‘Ones to Watch.’

Kicking off is Great Britain’s reigning world and European discus and shot put F42 champion Aled Davies, who has already thrown new world bests of 17.40m in the shot put and 54.85m in the discus this year.

The 26-year-old is targeting his third consecutive double world gold in London and on current form looks hard to beat.

Five Facts About Aled Davies

1. Davies is a keen DJ – house, hip hop, grime, you name it, he plays it.

2. He loves cooking – he makes his own pizzas from scratch and even kneads his own dough – “Minimal crust, lots of stuff on top.”

3. A former swimmer, Davies competed at the European Junior Championships before turning to athletics in 2005.

4. He’s the proud owner of dog Benji, a Chow Chow.

5. The Welshman has two Paralympic golds, four world golds and four European titles to his name – and two world records.

 

The World Para Athletics Championships will be held in London, Great Britain, from 14-23 July.
