Indonesia 2018: Moment of silence to be observed

The earthquake that occurred in Donggala and followed by the tsunami in Palu, Central Sulawesi, has again made Indonesia grieve. The Chairman of the Indonesia Asian Para Games Organising Committee (INAPGOC) Raja Sapta Oktohari expressed the deepest condolences to the victims and residents affected by the natural disaster.

“Prayer from each INAPGOC personnel always accompanies our fellow Indonesians who are affected in Palu and Donggala,” Oktohari said.

Oktohari sympathised with the disaster that occurred just a week before the opening of the Asian Para Games III, wihch run 6-13 October in Jakarta. In a state of grieving, INAPGOC continues to finalise preparations to ensure Indonesia is ready to host.

“Currently INAPGOC is in the final preparation of the Asian Para Games with the spirit of humanity and equality,” said Oktohari.

The Chairman of the Asian Paralympic Committee (APC) Majid Rashed also expressed deep condolences to those affected by the disasters and dealing with the aftermath. Related to the conditions, APC and INAPGOC have agreed to a moment of silence during the Opening Ceremony on Saturday (6 October).

“We will hold a minute’s silence during the Asian Para Games Opening Ceremony so that we can offer our respect for the victims and our support to those dealing with the aftermath of the disasters in Indonesia,” said Majid Rashed.

Oktohari encourages all Indonesian people to unite in the spirit of humanity and national unity to help and build each other as a solid Indonesian nation.
