IPC approves Alpes 2030 venue masterplan
New venue masterplan is built around three clusters and combines world famous ski resorts of the French Alps with the historic city of Lyon 10 Jul 2026
The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Governing Board approved the Alpes 2030 Paralympic Winter Games venue masterplan at a meeting in Bonn, Germany, on Friday (10 July).
Since July 2025, the Alpes 2030 Organising Committee has been reviewing its Paralympic venue masterplan first presented as part of its bid in 2024. The purpose of the exercise - which considered key learnings from Milano Cortina 2026 and consultation with the IPC, International Federations, public authorities, and the National Paralympic Committee of France – has been to understand the opportunities as well as the challenges of the initial bid plan.
The new venue masterplan put forward by Alpes 2030 presents an enhanced concept on athlete experience, convenience for all Games stakeholders and reduced complexity.
With the IPC’s approval, the Alpes 2030 Paralympic Winter Games will be organised around three competition clusters: Haute-Savoie Cluster, Savoie Cluster and Lyon Cluster.
Haute-Savoie Cluster
Para biathlon and Para cross-country skiing will be based in the Haute-Savoie Cluster, with both sports taking place at the La Clusaz Nordic Centre. The centre is located at a height 500m higher than the originally proposed venue. It ensures Alpes 2030 can leverage an Olympic venue and provide a compact format for the Para biathlon and Para cross-country skiing events.
Savoie Cluster
The Savoie Cluster will host Para alpine skiing at the Courchevel Para Alpine Skiing Centre and Para snowboard competition at the Courchevel Snowboard Centre. Hosting both sports in one resort will create operational efficiency while providing world class conditions at one of France’s premiere ski resorts.
Lyon Cluster
In Lyon, France’s third biggest city, the Para ice hockey and wheelchair curling competitions will be contested at the Eurexpo Exhibition Centre. Boasting excellent accessible public transport links, the Eurexpo Exhibition Centre will provide spectators with two world class sports under one roof and offer operational synergies for the Organising Committee.

The Alpes 2030 Paralympic Winter Games will take place between 1-10 March 2030.
