Jacob Adicoff is America’s brightest new talent in cross country skiing. He made a huge breakthrough last season winning his first ever race. The visually impaired skier has impressed everyone with his rapid progress in the sport.

In a short season where he only raced in the final two World Cups he managed to get on the podium in every single cross country race he took part in. His first race of the season came at the Paralympic venue in PyeongChang and resulted in his first World Cup win.

The 22-year-old from Idaho won the long distance race there, followed quickly by another victory in the Sprint and third place in the middle distance.

Adicoff then went on to Sapporo and in the final two races of the season he took the win once again in the short distance and was second in the middle distance.

All this has led to him being ranked fourth in the world in cross country and he has become one of the favourites to win medals in the upcoming Paralympic Games in March 2018.

Here Jacob talks about some things that you may not know about him.

Teaching pottery

“I really like pottery. For the past few summers, I’ve been working at a local studio teaching kids’ pottery classes. It’s a great summer job for me because I like the work and it doesn’t conflict with training times.”

Lazy days

“My favourite thing to do when I have an off day is to sleep in a bit and then eat a huge breakfast right around noon.”

Competitive spirit

“I get secretly very competitive in any game that I play.”
