As LA28 marks two years until the Olympic Games return to Los Angeles for the third time and the Paralympic Games take place in the city for the first time, planning efforts with key stakeholders continue to advance through in-person gatherings, including the World Broadcaster Meeting and the World Press Briefing.

This week LA28 hosted 154 representatives from 44 Media Rights Holders (MRHs), who have secured the exclusive rights to broadcast and distribute Olympic Games coverage, for the World Broadcaster Meeting, as well as more than 250 international media, National Olympic Committees, National Paralympic Committees (NPCs) and International Federations press officers for the World Press Briefing held 21–24 July. These events brought together key stakeholders from around the world to learn more about LA28’s vision, planning milestones and preparations for delivering a world-class Games experience to global audiences.

Throughout the three events engagements, attendees received updates from LA28 operational teams and toured competition and non-competition venues across the Games footprint, providing firsthand exposure to the existing world-class venues that will be showcased in 2028. These gatherings represent an important step in fostering open dialogue, sharing key planning updates and aligning operational priorities, reflecting LA28’s continued commitment to strengthening relationships with essential stakeholders and advancing the thoughtful preparation, operational readiness and shared collaboration needed to deliver an extraordinary Olympic and Paralympic Games that will showcase the energy, diversity and innovation of Los Angeles on the world stage.

As LA28 approaches the two-year milestone of the 2028 Paralympic Opening Ceremony on 15 August, final updates to the Paralympic venue plan have been confirmed, including Para Powerlifting at Peacock Theater in the DTLA Zone, reaffirming the original bid venue.

This finalisation was made possible by a scheduling shift and venue share with goalball, which will now take place in Peacock Theater across Days -2 through Day 6, 13-21 August 2028, allowing the competition to begin prior to the Opening Ceremony without eliminating any athletes before the Games officially begin. Para Powerlifting will then take place during the second week across Days 9-12, 24-27 August , 2028. Paralympic planning with Games stakeholders and delivery partners will continue in August with NPC Open Days.
