Much is expected from Bose Omolayo and Xu Lili at the Mexico City 2017 World Championships, between 2 and 8 December, after featuring in the highly exciting women’s up to 79kg event at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games.

At last year’s Paralympics, Omolayo achieved a world record lift of 138kg, only 3kg more than her opponent. Both had failed third attempts, which is why the Nigerian topped the podium. It was the Paralympic debut for both of them.

The Chinese will be competing at her second World Championships following her participation at Kuala Lumpur 2010, while Omolayo will make her Worlds debut at Mexico City 2017.
