Judo World Championships

South Korean judokas were unstoppable as they won five gold medals in Odivelas, Portugal. The competition also gave some surprises as Paralympic and world champions left defeated.

Doubles Masters

Hosts Netherlands celebrated as Marjolein Buis and Aniek van Koot took the wheelchair tennis women’s title in Bemmel. France’s top seeds Stephane Houdet and Nicolas Peifer emerged victorious in the men’s competition. Nick Taylor and David Wagner claimed their 11th crown.

World Para Snowboard World Cup

The season kicked off with events in Landgraaf, Netherlands, and Dubai, United Arab Emirates. PyeongChang 2018 medallist Chris Vos shone in the latter, while Chinese Sun Qi stunned on Dutch snow.

Wheelchair Fencing World Cup

World champions were toppled in Tbilisi, Georgia, including Hungary’s Zsuzsanna Krajnyak, who surprisingly lost to Chinese teenager Haiyan Gu in the women’s foil category A.

Para Badminton Pan American Championships

Outstanding performance by Peruvian players on home soil in Lima, as they won seven golds, four silvers and four bronze as they get ready for next year's Parapan American Games.

World Wheelchair-B Curling Championship 2018

Estonia made history by winning gold in Lohja, Finland, after defeating Slovakia 7-3 in the final. Both finalists and bronze-medallists Latvia advanced to next year’s World Wheelchair Curling Championship.

Para Badminton European Championships

France’s Lucas Mazur delighted the home crowd, while England’s Rachel Choong ended as the most successful athlete in Rodez.

Women’s Americas Region Qualifier

The Mexican wheelchair basketball team secured victories against Chile and Guatemala to qualify for next year’s Parapan American Games. Chile ended second and also secured a spot at Lima 2019.

Lomianki 2018

Ukraine dominated the World Para Dance Sport European Championships in Poland by winning a staggering 13 out of a possible 19 golds, taking 20 medals overall. Belarus’ Hanna Harchakova and standing partner Roman Usmanov displayed all their grace to win the combi standard 2 gold.

New York Marathon

Daniel Romanchuk became the first US male to win the marathon, while Swiss Manuela Schaer successfully defended the women’s title.

C-Pool World Para Ice Hockey Championships

It was China’s first appearance in the sport and they soon proved to have big goals in mind in Viermuaki, Finland. They claimed a merciless 40-0 win over Australia and then shut out Finland 5-0 to advance to next year’s B-Pool.

Australia Para Badminton International

Hong Kong’s Chan Ho Yuen caused the upset of the year – and perhaps the biggest shock of the last six years – when he stunned previously unbeaten Kim Jungjun of South Korea in Geelong to win the men’s singles WH 2 title.

Buenos Aires Boccia Open

Steve Wilson became the first Bermudian Para athlete to win an international boccia title when he took gold in the Argentinian capital city.

Cali Open

Brazil witnessed their best performances from Bruno Kiefer, as they topped the Cali Open shooting Para sport competition.

Bath Indoor

Two-time Wimbledon champion Stefan Olsson edged out former world No.1 Stephane Houdet to win the wheelchair tennis competition in Great Britain.
