Presenters Announced for September’s IPC Academy Inclusion Summit

Senior figureheads from the Paralympic Movement, industry and government are now confirmed to present at the Summit.

An impressive list of presenters has been announced on Wednesday (22 August) for the IPC Academy Inclusion Summit which will take place on 6 and 7 September at Lancaster House, London as part of the British Business Embassy programme of activities during the Paralympic Games.

Senior figureheads from the Paralympic Movement, industry and government are now confirmed to present at the Summit including:

• Sir Philip Craven, International Paralympic Committee President

• Rt Hon William Hague MP, Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs

• Lord Sebastian Coe, Chair LOCOG

• Dmitry Chernyshenko, President of the Sochi 2014 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games Committee

• Carlos Arthur Nuzman President, Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games Committee

• Keith Williams, Chief Executive Officer, British Airways

• Patrick De Maeseneire, Chief Executive Officer, Adecco Group

• Jayne Pletser-Dent, Curriculum Manager for Inclusive Education, International Baccalaureate Organisation

• Daniel Moylan, Chairman, London Legacy Development Corporation

• Maria Miller MP, Minister for Disabled People along with many other panellists and presenters.

The Summit will discuss inclusion and accessibility, what this means to society, and what the Paralympic Games represent as a catalyst for societal change for people with an impairment. Lord Coe, Chair of LOCOG commented: “We at London 2012 have made diversity and inclusion a top priority for our organization. This has allowed us to flourish as an organizing committee as the decisions we make are representative of the many communities we serve. This Inclusion Summit is an important forum to showcase the work we have achieved and share this with the broader Paralympic Movement.”

For the London 2012 Paralympic Games there have been many initiatives undertaken to actively involve people with an impairment from workforce through to venue planning to ensure that the Paralympic athletes are provided the best stage for them to compete.

Patrick De Maeseneire, Chief Executive Officer, Adecco Group said: “The IPC Athlete Career Programme, delivered in cooperation with Adecco, is a programme specifically designed to enable Paralympians to better combine competitive sports with a job and to facilitate their transition from the field of play to professional post-competition careers. Through our involvement in this Summit, we will share our expertise and strive to improve the inclusion of people with a disability.

The IPC Academy Inclusion Summit runs from 6-8 September in London, UK. Presentations and panels will be made on 6 and 7 September at Lancaster House, St James and a venue tour of South Bank and the Olympic Park on Saturday 8 September.
