Vote for Best Powerlifter of 2018

World Para Powerlifting has revealed the shortlist for the ‘Best Powerlifter of 2018’ following the four Regional Championships.

The public can now vote for their winner on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

The powerlifter with the most combined votes across all social media pages will be the winner.

The nominations are:

Jhon Castaneda (Colombia)

Chosen “Best Americas Powerlifter” after winning the men’s over 107kg continental title with an Americas record lift of 212kg on home soil in Bogota.

Mariana Shevchuk (Ukraine)

Lifted 130.5kg to break the women's up to 55kg world record and win gold at Berck-sur-Mer 2018; she was also named “Best European Powerlifter.”

Sherif Osman (Egypt)

Was elected “Best African Powerlifter” after successfully defending the continental title in Algeria with a 206kg lift in the men's up to 59kg.

Siamand Rahman (Iran)

Named “Best Asian-Oceanian Powerlifter” after comfortably winning the men's over 107kg with a 285kg lift at Kitakyushu 2018.

The public has until 12:00 (CEST) on Wednesday (9 January) to vote for the powerlifter they want to be the ‘Best of 2018.’
