Vote for February’s Allianz Athlete of the Month

World champions and record breakers make the shortlist 06 Mar 2019

The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has revealed the shortlist for February’s Allianz Athlete of the Month, and the public can now vote for the winner on www.paralympic.org.

The nominations are:

BENJAMIN DAVIET, FRANCE, NORDIC SKIING

Secured five titles across cross-country and biathlon events at the Prince George 2019 World Championships.

YUJIE LI, CHINA, TAEKWONDO

World Championship debutant won a surprise gold in the women’s under 58kg K44 division in Antalya, Turkey.

VANESSA LOW, AUSTRALIA, ATHLETICS

Leapt over five metres – a new T61 world record - on her return to action in United Arab Emirates after more than two years away from major competition recovering from a back injury.

VILDE NILSEN, NORWAY, NORDIC SKIING

The 18-year-old won three individual world titles and also helped her team take gold in the open relay in Prince George, Canada.

MARIANA SHEVCHUK, UKRAINE, POWERLIFTING

Broke her own world record by lifting 131kg on her way to clinching the women’s up to 55kg gold at the World Cup in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

The public has until 12:00 (CEST) on Wednesday (13 March) to vote for the athlete they want to be the Allianz Athlete of the Month for February 2019 via the International Paralympic Committee homepage.

The nominations are compiled from submissions by National Paralympic Committees (NPCs) and International Federations (IFs).
