World Para Athletics mourns International Technical Official David Weicker
Weicker served as ITO at the Paralympic Games in Rio and Tokyo, as well as at the London 2017 and Dubai 2019 World Para Athletics Championships 08 Jun 2026
World Para Athletics is mourning the passing of International Technical Official (ITO) David Weicker at the age 76.
Born in Victoria, Canada, Weicker served Para athletics for almost a decade in multiple roles, including as Technical Delegate (TD) and ITO.
World Para Athletics had the privilege of working with him as ITO at major international events such as the Paralympic Games Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020; the World Para Athletics Championships London 2017 and Dubai 2019; and the European Championships Berlin 2018 and Bydgoszcz 2020.
He also acted as TD for the Nottwil 2017 World Para Athletics Junior Championships and the Lima 2019 Parapan American Games, and supported several World Para Athletics Grand Prix events between 2017 and 2019. In addition, he contributed to the development of Technical Officials in Latin America through World Para Athletics education programmes.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing and working with him. He will be greatly missed."
