Meister's remarkable run
If France dominated the medal table, it was Switzerland's Nora Meister (S6) who produced the most compelling individual narrative of the competition. The Swiss swimmer claimed gold in the women's 100m freestyle and 400m freestyle and reached the podium in the 50m butterfly and 100m backstroke, finishing the meet as one of its most decorated athletes.
France 2026 was Meister's third consecutive World Series stop, having also competed in Barcelona and Lignano Sabbiadoro in March. The consistency she has shown across all three meets places her among the form swimmers of the 2026 season. There will be little time to rest: Meister is set to compete again in Berlin later this week, as the World Series continues its demanding schedule.
Beyond the headline performances, the meet delivered competitive racing throughout the programme with five other nations claiming gold across the remaining events.
Uzbekistan's Lolakhon Kadirova (SM4) topped the podium in the women's 150m medley, China's Chuanzhen Sun (S11) won the men's 400m freestyle, Turkiye's Sumeyye Boyaci (S5) claimed gold in the women's 50m backstroke, Hungary's Bianka Pap (SM10) won the women's 200m individual medley, and Sweden's Pernilla Lindberg (S14) took gold in the women's 200m freestyle.
Looking ahead
France 2026 was the fourth stop of a Para Swimming World Series 2026 that has moved at a relentless pace.
The season opened in Gold Coast, Australia in February, before heading to Europe for back-to-back meets in Barcelona, Spain and Lignano Sabbiadoro, Italy in March.
There is little time to recover: Berlin hosts the fifth stop from 7 to 9 May, just days after the conclusion of the French edition.
The circuit then heads to Asia as the sixth leg takes place in Fuji-Shizuoka, Japan from 29 to 31 May, before a summer break through June and July.
Competition resumes in August in Guadalajara, Mexico with the season concluding in November across two final meets in Lima, Peru and Abu Dhabi, UAE.
The season's flagship event, the World Para Swimming European Championships, is scheduled for 7 to 12 September at the Gebze Olympic Swimming Pool in Kocaeli, Turkey.
