Governing Board Meets in Korea Before General Assembly

Seoul, Korea - Today, the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Governing Board (GB) concluded its 48th official meeting, which was held in Seoul, Korea, on the occasion of the IPC 2007 General Assembly. 21 Nov 2007 By IPC

During two days of meetings, the GB discussed and approved several issues, including the technical delegates for the Vancouver 2010 Paralympic Winter Games and the Paralympic Games Chapter of the IPC Handbook that outlines principles for the organization of Paralympic Games.

The GB also decided on the cities to host the 2010 IPC World Championships for Athletics and Swimming. After an extensive review process and recommendations from the Bid Evaluation Committee, Christchurch, New Zealand (Athletics) and Eindhoven, the Netherlands (Swimming), were chosen by the GB to host the World Championships in 2010.

Furthermore, the Board received updates on the budget for the financial year 2007, the work of various IPC Standing Committees and Councils as well as approved the transfer of governance of IPC Archery to the International Archery Federation (FITA).

The next Governing Board Meeting will take place in February 2008 in Bonn, Germany, at the IPC Headquarters.
