·Iceland has claimed 63 medals at the Paralympic Summer Games: G15-S13-B35.

·Atlanta 1996 were Iceland's most successful Paralympic Games to date, winning five gold medals (S4-B5).

·The NPC made its debut at the Arnhem 1980 Paralympic Games.

·Iceland is in 48th place on the Summer Games' all-time medal table.

·The NPC has been most successful in swimming, claiming 14 gold, eight silver and 27 bronze medals.

·Swimmer Kristin Hakonardottir is Iceland's most successful Paralympian in individual events: G6-S2-B4.

·Jon Margeir Sverrisson claimed Iceland's only gold medal at the London 2012 Paralympic Games. He can become the second male Paralympian from Iceland to successfully defend his Paralympic title after Olafur Eirriksson won the titles of men's butterfly S9 in 1992 and 1996.

·Sprinter Haukur Gunnarsson won Iceland's only gold medal beyond swimming. He won the men's 100m C7 at the Seoul 1988 Paralympic Games.
