Laos at the Rio 2016 Paralympics

·The NPC made its debut at the Sydney 2000 Paralympic Summer Games.

·Powerlifter Eay Simay is Laos’ lone Paralympic medallist, taking bronze in the men’s up to 48kg at Beijing 2008; he lifted 157.5kg. He also competed in Athens 2000 and London 2012. In London, he missed the podium, finishing fourth.

·Powerlifter Dalouni Xaythanith was Laos’ first female Paralympian. She competed in the women’s up to 44kg in Sydney 2000. Her best lift was 40kg for eighth place.

·There is no rights holding broadcaster in Laos, but the Paralympic Games can be watched live via the IPC’s website at www.paralympic.org.
