Athletics - Men's 100m - T51 Final - London 2012 Paralympics

GOLD PIISPANEN Toni FIN - Finland SILVER de VIDI Alvise ITA - Italy BRONZE BERRAHAL Mohamed ALG - Algeria LONDON, September 3, 2012 Wheelchair racer Toni PIISPANEN (FIN) was a decisive winner of the T51 men's 100m in a Paralympic record 21.72, quite simply turning his wheels more smoothly and faster than anyone else and coming home nearly two wheelchair lengths clear of silver medallist Alvise De Vidi (ITA), who clocked 22.60. With a slightly better pickup between 20m and 30m, PIISPANEN might have challenged his world record of 21.11 set in May. "I quit my day job and I didn't get to see my kids as much as I wanted. I've taken them to competitions, but it's not the same. My family are here watching me and it means a lot. They can see what this means."
