After his PE teacher always tried to include him in sports, Brazil's Gabriel Araujo discovered swimming and quickly rose to the top. Claiming numerous gold medals at Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024, Araujo’s joyous personality and signature celebratory dance leave everyone smiling.
He has been unstoppable even after Paris 2024. On 20 April 2026, he won the Laureus World Sportsperson of the Year with a Disability Award for his outstanding 2025 season, which included a hat-trick of gold medals at the World Para Swimming Championships in Singapore.
