Opening Ceremonies

The VISTA 2017 will commence with sessions beginning at 13:00 on Wednesday, 20 September 2017 at the Chelsea Hotel, Toronto. The Opening Ceremony & Reception will follow at 17:00 that evening.

Keynote Addresses

The keynote addresses will be delivered by leading experts and will cover key issues including:

Evidence-based classification;

Socio-economic determinants of Paralympic participation & success;

Athlete health & performance;

Integrative approach to the preparation of a Paralympic athlete or the athlete’s career;

Athlete and coach education; and

Technology, biomechanics and engineering

Invited Symposia

Chaired and moderated by a member of the IPC Sports Science Committee or a professional expert, expert speakers have been invited by the IPC to address particular themes and exchange views in interaction with the audience. The abstracts for VISTA 2017 will be made available closer to the conference date.

09:00 -17:30 Scientific Programme (keynote, symposia, free communications, interactive applied sessions) at Canadian Sport Institute Ontario / Toronto Pan Am Sport Centre

Note: Shuttle Buses will transport VISTA 2017 participants to and from the Chelsea Hotel, Toronto and CSIO / TPASC. Arrangements will also be made to provide Shuttle Bus service from CSIO / TPASC directly to Pearson International Airport for participants departing in the evening of September 23.

MaRS Reception:

The Ontario Ministry of Research, Innovation and Science, in partnership with the Ministry of Economic Development and Growth and the Accessibility Directorate of Ontario, will host a reception for VISTA Conference attendees the evening of 21 September 2017 from 18:00 – 20:00 at the MaRS Discovery District. In advance of the official opening of the 2017 Accessibility Innovation Showcase , this event offers an exclusive opportunity to meet senior-level Ontario government officials and network with executives from dozens of Ontario-based companies and organizations developing innovative accessibility-related technologies and devices.
