Vista 2017 - Scientific Award

During VISTA 2017, the IPC will present the highly prestigious Paralympic Scientific Award.

Awarded biennially, the award recognises the work of one academic researcher for their contribution to research in the field of sports for persons with an impairment.

The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has announced that Professor Vicky Goosey-Tolfrey has received the 2017 IPC Paralympic Scientific Award, which will be presented at September’s VISTA Conference in Toronto, Canada. She will deliver a keynote address at the scientific conference, which will take place from 20-23 September.

For nearly two decades, the Loughborough University professor has sought ways to apply sports science to Para athletes who have been training for the international stage. For example, at the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games, Goosey-Tolfrey led a team of sports scientists and healthcare experts, the Beijing Acclimatisation Group, to ensure athletes were prepared

Goosey-Tolfrey’s keynote speech is titled “Pushing from Atlanta to Rio: Reflections of my Practitioner and Research Journey.”

She will reflect on her professional activities since attending Atlanta 1996, and will highlight how key individuals have supported the development of her research portfolio since then.

Prix scientifique

Lors de la conférence VISTA 2017, le CIP présentera le très prestigieux prix scientifique paralympique.

Le prix biennal récompense le travail d’un chercheur universitaire pour sa contribution à la recherche dans le domaine du sport pour les personnes avec un handicap.

Le Comité international paralympique (CIP) a annoncé que le prix scientifique paralympique CIP de 2017 a été décerné à Vicky Tolfrey-Goosey et sera remis à la conférence VISTA de septembre, à Toronto, au Canada. Mme Vicky Tolfrey-Goosey prononcera un discours à la conférence scientifique, qui aura lieu du 20 au 23 septembre.

Depuis près de 20 ans, la professeure de l’Université de Loughborough cherche des façons d’appliquer la science du sport aux athlètes paralympiques s’entraînant pour la scène internationale. Par exemple, lors des Jeux paralympiques de Beijing en 2008, Mme Tolfrey-Goosey a dirigé une équipe de scientifiques du sport et d’experts de la santé, le groupe d’acclimatation de Beijing, afin d’assurer que les athlètes étaient prêts.

Son discours est intitulé « Pousser d’Atlanta à Rio : réflexions sur mon parcours de praticienne et de chercheuse. »

Elle parlera de ses activités professionnelles depuis sa participation aux Jeux d’Atlanta en 1996 et soulignera la façon dont des personnes clés ont soutenu la création de son portefeuille de recherche depuis.
