Barquisimeto 2005 Youth Parapan American Games

In order to help develop and increase the depth and quality of the sporting field across the Americas, the Youth Parapan American Games were created, with the first edition taking place in Barquisimeto, Venezuela, between 22-30 October 2005.

The Games have been celebrated every four years since, with athletes aged 12-21 competing.

This inaugural edition featured athletes from 10 countries competing in athletics, boccia, goalball, judo, swimming, table tennis, wheelchair basketball and wheelchair tennis.

Venezuela finished top of the medals table, followed by Mexico and Argentina.
