Alana Nichols

Nichols is the only athlete to appear in the IPC Ones to Watch list for two different sports - Wheelchair Basketball and Alpine Skiing.

Part of the USA's gold medal winning Wheelchair Basketball team at the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games, Nichols is also one of the world's best sit skiers.

At the Vancouver 2010 Paralympic Winter Games she claimed gold in the Downhill and Giant Slalom events, picked up silver in the Super-G and took home bronze in the Super Combined. She also became the first female American athlete to win both summer and winter Paralympic gold.

She followed this up in 2011 winning two gold and two bronze medals at the IPC Alpine Skiing World Championships in Sestriere, Italy.

After a disappointing fourth place finish for the USA Wheelchair Basketball team at London 2012, Nichols will be hungry for individual success at the 2013 IPC Alpine Skiing World Championships in La Molina, Spain as well as the Sochi 2014 Paralympic Winter Games.
