In the overall men's rankings in the 2011-12 IPC Alpine Skiing World Cup, Russia's Alexander Alyabyev ranked second overall after France's Vincent Gauthier-Manuel. The Russian was, however, almost unbeatable in the men's slalom standing, ranking world No. 1, making him a force to be reckoned with when he skis on home snow at the Sochi 2014 Paralympics.
