After winning a gold medal in women's ASW1x single sculls at London 2012 Games, where she set a Paralympic record, Alla Lysenko followed up that performance by finishing second at the World Championships this summer.
The two-time world champion from Ukraine logged a time of 6:29.09 at the 2013 World Rowing Cup at Eton Dorney on 22 June in Great Britian.
Lysenko, who only made her international debut in 2009, won World Championship titles in both 2009 and 2011, and holds a European title as well.
But despite all that success there’s no doubt that a second-place finish at Worlds will motivate her to win more.
After all, the 44-year-old rower was once quoted saying: “You can never have too many gold medals, so I will prepare for Rio 2016.”
