Wahoram is one of Thailand’s most decorated athletes and has been awarded Disabled Athlete of the Year in 2006, 2008 and 2009.
Born in March 1981 he took part in his first Paralympic Games in 2000. In Sydney he won 5,000m (10:54.99) and 10,000m (21:05.23) gold.
Two years later at the World Championships in France he won four golds (800m, 5,000m, 4x100m & 4x400m) and two silver medals (400m & 10,000m).
At the Athens 2004 Paralympics the Bangkok resident picked up 10,000m silver and gold in both relay events.
In Beijing in 2008, he picked up five medals – gold in the 5,000m (10:22.38), silver in the 1,500m (3:10.68), 4x100m relay T53-54 (51.93) and 4x400m relay T53-54, (3:11.63) and finally bronze in the 800m (1:37.12).
He added to his medal collection at the 2011 IPC Athletics World Championships in New Zealand by winning 10,000m bronze.
London 2012 saw Wahoram win two silver medals, first in the 1,500m (3:12.32) behind Britain’s David Weir and then in the 4x400m relay T53-54 (3:13.28).
Although his golden days may be behind him, Wahoram and his Thai teammates have an exemplary track record for medalling at major Championships.
