Together with his teammate Taiki Morii, Suzuki has ensured that Japanese sit-skiers are the athletes to beat heading into the 2013 IPC Apline Skiing World Championships and Sochi 2014.
Despite only winning one medal at two previous Paralympic Winter Games - a Giant Slalom bronze in 2010 - Suzuki hit form at the 2011 IPC Alpine Skiing World Championships in Sestriere, Italy.
At the Championships he won gold in two events - Super Combined and Slalom - as well as two silvers in Giant Slalom and Downhill, adding to the Giant Slalom gold he won at the 2009 World Championships.
Suzuki finished the 2011/2012 season ranked second in the World Cup standings for both Slalom and Super Combined.
