Australian Barry Couzner has been elected as the interim president of World ParaVolley replacing Dr. Hossam Mostafa who resigned from the position due to the time pressures of his business.

In accepting his resignation, the World ParaVolley board thanks him for his valuable contribution to the organisation over the past years.

Couzner has many years of experience in the sport of volleyball, being the president of Volleyball Australia for 10 years, the first Australian member of the Federation Internationale De Volleyball (FIVB) Board, vice-president of the Asian Volleyball Confederation and Volleyball Competition Manager at the Sydney 200 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

He has also been volunteering for the World Organisation of Volley for the Disabled (WOVD) and World ParaVolley since 2000 and has been the chair of the Technical Commission, attending many ParaVolley events as a tournament director or a jury member.

Canada’s Wayne Hellquist has also been elected Vice-President in line with the recent changes to the constitution made in Elblag, Poland, this year.

He has driven the branding process for World ParaVolley as the Marketing Director and has extensive experience in sports management.

Hellquist has also been a member of the board and vice-president of Volleyball Canada, a member of the Disabled Volleyball Committee for Volleyball Canada and a member of the board of the Canadian Olympic Committee, including 10 years as vice-president
