Brazil picked up five first-place finishes to open the swimming competition at the 2013 Youth Parapan American Games in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and led the medal count the rest of the way.

Brazil have 39 golds and Argentina have won 25, while Mexico sit at 21 and Venezuela have amassed 13.

Following the third day at the 2013 Youth Parapan American Games, Brazil remained atop the medals table in Buenos Aires, Argentina, followed closely by the host nation.

On the first day of the swimming events, Brazil picked up five golds in the pool, with Mexico and Argentina taking four. Colombia, Ecuador and Trinidad and Tobago also won titles in the pool.

Over on the football 7-a-side pitch, Brazil defeated Mexico 6-1 to put themselves in first place in Group B, while Argentina beat Chile 4-0 to remain atop group A.

Venezuela’s Jesus Diaz highlighted the athletics competition, winning gold in the 100m and 200m T11 events.

Elsewhere, Brazil and Colombia’s men’s wheelchair basketball teams picked up big victories, and Argentina and Chile had top performances on the wheelchair tennis court.
