World Para Powerlifting (WPPO) has delivered a three-day course in Sao Paulo, Brazil, aimed at training technical officials ahead of a national competition and the 2018 Para Powerlifting Americas Open Championships in Bogota, Colombia.

Eleven participants successfully passed the Level 3 Technical Official Course between 22 and 24 June, after taking part in a series of lectures and practical sessions focused on the breakdown of the detailed lift phases, lift execution/evaluation and competition processes.

Educator, Mohammed Alqersh of Yemen said: “It was a great course with 11 new technical officials joining the WPPO family.”

“I want to thank the Brazilian Paralympic Committee for their co-operation in ensuring the success of the course as well as the efforts of WPPO on continuing to develop the sport throughout different regions.”

The Bogota 2018 World Para Powerlifting Americas Open Championships are set to take place between 5 and 9 December.
